SUMMARY:Florence Thomson Tour 2025
DESCRIPTION:Ladies\, the Florence Thomson Tour for female drivers in classic cars is happening again.  \nIn February 1905\, Florence Thomson was the sole female entrant in the Dunlop Reliability Motor contest from Sydney to Melbourne. Mrs Thomson was one of the 16 entrants who successfully completed the five-day trial\, driving a six horsepower Wolseley\, over what was then nothing more than 562 miles of dirt track between the capital cities.  \nTo celebrate the pioneering spirit and contribution of women to Australian motoring\, The Florence Thomson Tour was created as an annual event in April 2017.   \nA link to the event is https://www.aomc.asn.au/florence-thomson-tour. The event is organised by the AOMC (Association of Motoring Clubs Inc) which our club is a member. \nThe event will be based in the midst of Victoria’s fabulous Gold Fields\, just 115 kms from Melbourne.  \nThe tour’s aim is to show a diverse range of vehicles and hence places are limited.  \nYou need to apply for entry to the event by filling in the online application form on the AOMC website.  \nApplications close on 22th November 2024 and successful applicants will be notified on 16th December 2024. \nEntry Fee is $150 per person  \nRegards\nTim Christie President and Committee

DESCRIPTION:Trentham Historic Railway Station — Sunday 19th May 2024\nVictoria Street\, Trentham\nOur May outing will be on Sunday 19th May to the township of Trentham\, where our club will be participating in this year’s National Heritage Motoring Day being held at the Trentham Historical train station. \nTrentham is just an hour’s drive from Melbourne travelling through our beautiful countryside. \nThe club has organised to take part in the static display of classic and historical vehicles under the Morris Car Club of Victoria banner. We will be displaying our classic cars and promoting the history of Morris and BMC to other motoring enthusiasts along with the community\, which will strengthen our movement to everyone. \nThe cars will be on display from 10am to 2pm.  \nFor further information on the event including entry fees click here.  \nLunch\nFor lunch\, the choice is yours from a picnic sitting beside your beloved vehicle and a chat with the public\, or there’s plenty of eateries within walking distance to meet the folks for a chat or just view the beautiful township which has so many historical buildings. \nOur Meeting Location in Trentham\nWe will meet outside the oval of the primary school on Victoria Street Trentham. DESCRIPTION:Morris Members  this months event on the 29 October  is a mystery run \, leaving  @ 10 .15 Am  from  the BP fuel station  little River heading west Geelong  bound . \nMorris members after leaving the service station Geelong bound\, you will be  looking for the Midland highway \, turn right and follow the sign towards Ballarat the rest is a mystery. \nI will lead everyone to the mystery location\, first with projects then on to the next property . \nCuppa and a piece of cake  . \nBack on  road to  the lunch  location. \nDebbie has selected  an exceptional eatery for lunch \, then onto stage 2 . DESCRIPTION:Joint event in the eastern Suburbs in June \nA message from Tim Christie\, president. \nA joint event has been arranged between Morris & Rootes car clubs. It is a visit to the Eastern suburbs. We will be visiting several places of interest and engaging all members from clubs. Please feel free to bring a friend. \nThe event is on Saturday 24th June at 9:45am at Bill’s shed\, Burgess Road\, Bayswater. \nFirstly\, we will be visiting Bill’s collection of Rootes vehicles and memorabilia. He has 19 vehicles. We will be given an overview of his love for Rootes vehicles and receive a cuppa and some home-made cake. \n \nThe Morris car club will provide morning tea. A Peter MacAllum foundation cancer support tin will be on the table and a gold coin donation would be appreciated. Federation of Veteran vintage & classic vehicle clubs is supporting the 2023 collection. \nLunch is at Bayswater hotel at midday\, not far from the Bayswater railway station. \nAfter lunch we will visit the Ambulance Victoria Museum. They will open their museum at 1:45pm. The cost for each participant will be $10.00 and will include afternoon tea and cake.
